5 Health Benefits of a Window Tint

5 Health Benefits of Window Tinting

With tinted windows, you can spend less on energy while enjoying a higher level of privacy. Besides cost savings, there are a lot of health benefits that you can take advantage of with tinted windows. Here are five of them:

1 – Your skin isn’t as exposed to UV light

Everyone knows that we need some amount of sunlight to produce the vitamin D that our bodies need. That being said, it is important to get that sunlight during the morning and evening hours, when it is not too harsh. Prolonged exposure to sunlight means that we are more exposed to UV rays, which increases our risk of skin cancer and other dangerous skin conditions.

It is essential to protect yourself from harmful UV rays, even while indoors. Regular windows fail to shield you from these dangers, but tinted windows will keep up to 99.9% of those dangerous rays out.

2 – You will not be constantly straining your eyes

If you like working in a well-lit room, chances are you’ve experienced that annoying glare across your computer screen. Unless you reposition yourself or close the curtains, you will be straining your eyes. With tinted windows, you can enjoy the beautiful natural light without having experience eye pain.

3 – You are less prone to autoimmune disease

Research indicates that women exposed to a lot of UV radiation are more likely to develop autoimmune disease affecting the skin, known as dermatomyositis. Reduce your risk of developing this condition by keeping the UV rays outside where they belong.

4 – You won’t overheat as easily

It isn’t uncommon for people to experience discomfort, heat stroke, or dehydration because they are overheated during the summer. With window tints, the temperature inside your home will be regulated much more easily. You may even manage without turning on the air conditioning.

5 – You will safeguard yourself and your belongings

Window tint is adhered to the inside of windows. The additional layer reinforces the glass, making it more difficult to break. Even if it does, it is less likely to shatter and cause you injury because the broken pieces will stick to the adhesive.

Valuable possessions on the inside of your car or home can also be protected by window tints. Passing people will not be as able to spot what is on the inside and therefore won’t be as motivated to break in and take what is yours.

There are several types of window tints that are widely available. Get in touch with a professional today to figure out which one is the right fit for your needs.

At Premier Tint, we specialise in commercial window films & tinting. Get in touch today to see how we can help.

Privacy Benefits of a Window Tint

The Privacy Benefits of a Home and Commercial Window Tint

Commercial offices can get pretty busy. Clients are constantly coming and going, and employees are doing their jobs and adding value to your company. You probably have specific areas in your office dedicated for guests to rest, wait, and carry out business, as well as spaces for your employees to do what they have to do. There is one thing that affects both, however, that neither can control: the windows.

Large windows that allow in a lot of light can make offices look more attractive and more spacious. However, you also have to consider the health, the privacy, and the safety of everyone who enters your office building. Something that can minimize the risks while maximizing the gains is commercial window tinting.

You’ve probably seen large office complexes with tinted windows before, and thought if you should invest in some for yours. It’s an effective way to spend less on energy while keeping everyone inside comfortable. Even better, employees and clients alike will feel safe and secure inside your building as they work and go about their business.

It probably isn’t necessary to apply film to every window in the building. That being said, it may save you more money in the long run, not to mention add value to your building.

Most office workers spend the majority of the daylight hours in their office building, so staying protected at work is crucial. At home, however, you should still take measures to ensure that you remain protected. Here are some benefits of tinting your home windows:

  • Privacy – A major advantage of solar film at home is an increased level of privacy, particularly if you live near a busy street or right by the neighbor’s window. You can continue to enjoy the view from your window without sacrificing your privacy.
  • Preserve belongings – Have you ever noticed that the furniture placed next to the windows fades more quickly? With window film, you can increase the lifespan of your furniture, carpeting, and other belongings.
  • Temperature Control – It isn’t uncommon to have spots of heat where direct sunlight falls in your home. The inside of your house will have a more consistent temperature with window tints, and you will be more comfortable.

Window tints are great, whether commercial, residential, or auto. You can enjoy the sunlight that you love without sacrificing privacy, comfort, or the lifespan of your belongings. Get in touch with us today so that we can help you figure out which window tint is best for you!

Benefits of High Quality Commercial Window Tinting

Benefits of High Quality Commercial Window Tinting

Commercial window tints offer you quite a number of advantages. Besides preventing the majority of heat from the sun from entering your workplace, it will also keep UV rays from penetrating the glass and reduce almost all the glare. Additionally, you get to enjoy an increased level of privacy. There are different transparencies of film, so you can choose what is best for your purposes. Your budget will thank you as well, as the reduced heat means your cooling system won’t have to work as hard.

Lower costs

Any building, big or small, will be able to lower their costs with better temperature regulation and less heat entering the windows. Large businesses, especially, will see substantial change when their energy bills come in for the month.

Less eye strain and more comfort

You’ve probably noticed that you squint and strain your eyes a lot more in bright rooms. Glare on your screens can inhibit your ability to do work with ease, while hotspots and changing temperatures can be uncomfortable. Window tints help reduce glare, sparing your eyes, and regulate the overall temperature better, resulting in a more comfortable workplace.

Protection of company property

Window tinting is a great investment to safeguard your company property. Heat and harmful rays can damage furniture, upholstery, carpet, equipment, and a great many other things. With window film, most of the heat and harmful rays won’t be able to penetrate the glass, and your assets will be in tact for a longer period of time.

Improve security

The windows of commercial buildings are especially susceptible to attack. Some window films are available in thick layers that are able to reinforce your windows, making sure even shattered pieces are able to be held together. Films discourage thieves and burglars, and can even lower damage as a result of an accident.

Upgrade building look

People often draw conclusions about your business just from a first impression. Make your building’s impression count by installing films to make any place look more classy. You can choose what is best for your building from a variety of types and designs.

Where can I buy commercial window tinting film?

Before settling on a supplier, consider quality. Cheap window films are out there, and although it may save you money in the short-term, you’ll be spending more in the long-term because they will need more frequent replacement. Invest in high-quality film to ensure a long useful life.

WHAT ARE SOLAR WINDOWS?

You have probably heard of solar panels, devices that collect energy from the sun transform it into electricity that you can use. But have you heard of solar windows? Solar windows work just like solar panels, except they serve the dual purpose of windows. You can choose to remove your existing windows and install solar windows instead, but some people choose to simply buy solar film to adhere on their existing windows.

There are a few types of solar windows already available on the market. If this sounds like something you may be interested in, read on to understand the advantages that it can offer you.

TYPES OF SOLAR WINDOW

As already mentioned, you can choose between full solar windows or just a photovoltaic film. Some solar windows are made by inserting solar panel cells in between panels of glass. Though you can see the solar cells when you focus on them, your eye is able to pass over the cells when you gaze outside.

Other types of full solar windows are built using photovoltaic glass. Small wires that you cannot see harvest the energy that is produced by the glass, moving it into the energy grid. Thin-film technology is utilized to put a thin lining of photovoltaic onto the conductive glass layer.

These films give home owners the ability to convert their normal windows into windows that can collect solar energy by adhering the film onto the inside surface of the window. These thin sheets are largely made up of organic materials: carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen.

BENEFITS OF SOLAR WINDOWS

Most people hesitate to get full-sized solar panels because of how much space it takes and how unattractive it often looks. With solar windows, your home can produce at least part of its own energy while not taking up any extra space.

Metropolitan areas in particular can take advantage of this technology due to the amount of vertical window surface area. Solar panels would not be as effective because there is often not a lot of roof space. Solar windows would greatly reduce the demand that large cities place on energy resources.

Photovoltaic films are great choices, too. Since it is easy to adhere the film to windows that you already have, there is not as much waste compared to if you purchased full solar windows.

Additionally, photovoltaic films are thin and light, meaning that it does not take much energy to produce and ship them. Experts say that these films should offer warranty that lasts a quarter of a century – pretty close to what solar panels currently offer.

Westrac – Head Office Sydney – Digital Print

At Premier Tint we specialise in custom prints for glass and structural surfaces, Caterpillar Westrac recently engaged us to complete a digital print for their Sydney office at Holroyd.

We are fortunate at Premier Tint to have one of the countries best flat bed printers, perfect for this type of work, our Swiss Q is a top of line highly advanced commercial printer capable of producing high resolution finishes on a wide range of materials.

There are only handful of printers of this quality and versatility in Australia, and retailing at close to half a million dollars there is good reason as to why.

We used a premium 3M printable adhesive for this particular job for Westrac, this is ensured that the adhesive graphic film used will have maximum longevity.

Being that Westrac wanted the image to sit above their foyer on the second floor, installation posed a whole new set of challenges, however our experienced installation team are more than capable of tackling these kinds of issues and successfully installed the 10x8m print with a fully bonded contact that will be a feature in the Westrac Head Office Foyer for many years.

Low E Window Films – Slash Energy Costs

Some of the latest innovation in window film technology can significantly help you save money on your energy costs.

There are many film solutions out on the market which can help save energy costs but Low E films have been specifically designed to push the energy saving attributes to the limits.

According to data from the Australian government’s Energy Efficiency Exchange, electricity usage related to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) typically accounts for approximately 40 per cent of total building energy consumption and 70 per cent of base building (landlord) energy consumption.

HVAC plays a major role in peak energy usage as well and has dramatic impacts on the buildings and dwellings energy consumption during peak times, which reflects in owner/occupier billing.

On overage since the year 2000 Australian household energy prices have risen on average 9% annually based on the Australian Bureau of Statics Energy Pricing Index.

HVAC makes up such a large portion of these associated costs for Energy consumption, that low cost solutions to help reduce expenditure on HVAC are highly sought after.

Low E window films are just that, data acquired from the Australian Department of Environment and Energy shows that windows with inadequate coatings lead to on average 25 to 30% of all energy wasted from commercial buildings.

There are many options in the market for improving window energy efficiency, from Double Glazed glass to Smart-Window Technologies – however these can be very costly and particularly for Retrofitting.

Low E Films provide a cost effective Retrofit solution capable of ease of install at a marginal cost compared with Glazing and smart-window Technologies.

3M and Avery Dennison both have scientifically backed data to show that Low E Films can reduce Solar Heat Gains in Summer by up to 72% and in cooler months retain heat by up to 24%.

Low E or Low Emissivity Films have a 2-fold gain in terms of heat retention in the cooler months and blocking out heat in the warmer months.

Installation can be simple quick and seamless as the films can be fitted as a clear finish to not change the ascetics of the building.  These new types of Low E films which are clear do not impact on or cause any light lost when passing through the film.

This ensures the window retains its natural function without being negatively impacted by the Low E window film, Low E Films work exceptionally well are targeting infrared radiation and other electromagnetic energies – this is where most heat transmissions occur as opposed to visible light, Low E films are so specific in their light targeting, they o not even impede on natural plat life growth in rooms which contain Low E films.

Save on energy & improve personal comfort with 3M Thinsulate

For most states in Australia, peak energy usage occurs during the summer months, when the need to keep homes and offices at a comfortable temperature means air conditioners are working overtime. This not only impacts on the supply of energy during our hot summers, but can send energy bills through the roof.

But the roof is actually not the issue; rather, in Australia and New Zealand, 30% of the energy used to cool (or heat) our homes and offices goes right out the window, which cannot be prevented even with the use of blinds or shutters. Double or triple-glazing glass can dramatically reduce this energy loss, but the cost of retro-fitting homes or offices is prohibitive for most.

One of the most economical and effective solutions to this issue is the application of 3M’s ThinsulateTM Climate Control Window Film. Like most solar control films, ThinsulateTM works to prevent solar energy from entering windows, a quality which is called Low Emissivity (‘Low E’). ThinsulateTM, however, also prevents radiant heat from transferring from one side of the glass to another, so hot air stays outside in summer and warm air stays inside in winter.

What this means for you, whether in your home or workplace, is a significant reduction in energy loss and consumption, and the attendant reduction in your energy bills. In fact, applied to a single-pane window, ThinsulateTM improves insulation value to close to that of a double-pane, and improves a double-pane window’s insulation value to close to a triple-pane.

3M ThinsulateTM also blocks up to 99% of the sun’s UV rays, increasing personal comfort and preventing fading of carpets, curtains, upholstery and timber floors, protecting the value and appearance of your home or office. And ThinsulateTM doesn’t change the view from your windows, as it is virtually invisible.

Overall, 3M’s ThinsulateTM Climate Control Window Film is one of the most cost-effective ways you can transform your home or office so it is not only comfortable all year round, but is energy efficient and saves you money.
