What are some of the benefits of window film?

How is window film installed?

The individual installation steps, assuming a typical interior application, are as follows:

  • Thorough clean of the interior side of the glass pane and gaskets with a mild solution of dishwashing detergent and water to remove dirt and other residue
  • Wet glass with solution
  • Place film against glass
  • Squeegee to remove excess solution between glass and film
  • Trim film
  • Re-squeegee film edges to ensure film lies flat
  • Wipe film to ensure clean finished product

Will window film reduce my energy costs?

Yes. The amount of money saved depends upon the type of window film chosen and certain property-specific variables (location, climate, existing energy costs, etc).

Will window film reduce my energy bill?

Yes. The use of solar film will reduce the amount of heat coming through windows. This then requires less use of air conditioners which is likely to reduce energy consumption and bills.

Does security film prevent glass from breaking

No. Security film cannot prevent glass from breaking if it comes in contact with severe force (e.g. extreme weather). Security film, however, does an excellent job of holding broken glass together.

How is window film applied?

Window film adheres to glass when a pressure sensitive or dry adhesive is activated by a mild solution of dishwashing detergent and water.

Is window film installed on the inside or outside of my glass?

Window film is typically installed on the interior side of a window.

Will window films stop all interior fading?

No. Window tinting will not completely eliminate interior fading. However, depending on the type of window film that is applied, tinting your windows can reduce fading by up to 90%.

Can window film be applied to acrylic (plastic) sheet

Yes, there is a specific film designed for Acrylic use only. Speak with our sales reps for more information.

Can window film be applied to tinted/low-e glass?

Yes. There are specific films designed for low-e glass which will also prevent warm/cool air escaping.

What is the life expectancy of window film?

The life expectancy of window film varies for each solar brand. Your rep can assist you further.

How do I clean the filmed surface after installation

Window films may be washed with common washing solutions (no ammonia-based products) sixty days after installation. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents and bristle brushes as they can scratch the film. Synthetic sponges, squeegees, or soft cloths are recommended in addition to the cleaning solution. To maintain your warranty, do not use tape or other adhesive products on the film.
